On sunny warmer days I am walking to the end of the drive to get Sarah off the bus. Both kids love to go for a walk. We are all doing well. Sarah and Isaac seem to feel better from their ear infections. They still have a few more days of antibiotics. I finished my therapy today for my back. My measurements are in the normal range, so much better than expected. I no longer have pain and I am starting to feel so much better!

Sarah vs. REFLO cup

We are trying a new cup to help Sarah make the transition from a cup with a lid and straw to a regular cup. It looks like a reg cup, but has a flow regulator that helps keep her from dumping the whole cup on her. She is not happy with the cup and is currently having a showdown. She refuses to even try the cup. I think we will be sitting here a LONG time.

Oh my, two sick little ones. Sarah has a fever, ear infection and sinus infection. One more ear infection and she will get new tubes. Isaac has his first ear infection and a fever. He has really been pitiful, but he really loves his medicine!

Sarah’s Dance Clinic

This afternoon Sarah went to a local high school for a dance clinic. She had a great time. They will get to perform at the girl’s basketball game next week. I will video it and post then. Here are a few shots from the night.This is the girl that worked with Sarah. She really has a gift for working with children with special needs. She said she wants to work with them as an adult. Hope working with Sarah tonight firmed up that desire. She really was special.

Elijah had his first game today. He did pretty good until he got hit in the nose. He is fine. Sarah disowned us! LOL. She was still mad about the hair. Isaac loved yelling and clapping!

We seem to stay on the go around here! Elijah has his first basketball game in the morning so I will post game pictures hopefully tomorrow. Sarah is going to a dance clinic in the afternoon and will get to perform with the dance team at an area high school. She is excited to dance with the big kids. I am sure she will have tons of fun and I will have tons of pictures to post! All 3 kids get to go to Buddy Break tonight while Doug and I have a date night! WooHoo!! Buddy Break is a respite program for families of children with special needs. Each child is assigned a "buddy" that watches and helps them for the night. They have a ton of activities for the kids to do and the kid gets to pick what they want to do. All of the buddies have been trained to work with special needs. Elijah loves to go and be the center of attention of his buddy. This is really good for him. Isaac is finally crawling! He crawled for the first time a few nights ago and as I was typing this has crawled several times!! SO excited to see him on the move.

Resolutions

I had vowed that I was going to do more in depth blogging this year and yet I have not! I have a post in the works, but not ready yet. Just a true look at life. Might not even be something I post, may just need to be something I write. Life is going good. Here is just an update on all of us.

Doug
Doing well. Did have some knee issues last year and had a torn tendon in his knee they did surgery in Dec to repair it. He is back to normal activities and does not seem to have much problems with it. He has given up running. This is big for him. He has been running for 35 years. We got an eliptical and he has started using it. He has to do something with all the food he eats he would gain weight FAST if he was not active!!! He does have a job interview with a local utility next week which would be a great job, so prayers would be appreciated.

Elijah
Doing great. He is 8 now and in the 2nd grade. He is loving school and playing basketball for the first time. He has made all A's so far this year. He is growing tall. He has a few extra baby teeth and we have found out he has at least 1 extra adult tooth, so dental surgery is in his future. He has adjusted to us moving to a closer church home and made a great new friend. They have already had 1 sleepover and are planning the next!! Oh the joys of childhood. Elijah and Doug finished the clubhouse and have had fun playing in it. It is really cool. I need to get some pictures and do a post. Maybe this spring when it is warmer!!!

Sarah
Sarah is doing really good. She has been healthier lately so that has been nice. We have all had a few illnesses, but she has not been as bad as in the past. She is back in preschool. The special ed class at school was not a good fit. We will see what next year holds. I have been collecting stuff for homeschooling if needed. She is adjusting to having a baby brother. She is not impressed with him, but is tolerating him much better. She does love him and love to kiss on him, but she is just not sure about him. She walked on her tippy toes for the first time Wed!!!!!! We had taken her AFO's off to check her ankles and she started walking on her toes. She is getting stronger all the time. Still needs the AFO's for now, but doing better. She is getting so smart and amazes me with her talking all the time, in fact had to tell her to stop talking for the first time the other day!

Isaac
Isaac is growing up fast. He is still a rolly polly!! He is finally starting to get taller. He does not crawl yet, but he is so close. He is trying to pull up some. He has 2 teeth and jabbers all the time. He is eating table food and drinking from a straw sippy cup. He has been very healthy. He has only had 1 fever and 1 stomach bug.

Me
Well, I am doing better. I started having back pain last year and found out I had to have back surgery. I had a spinal fusion in Oct. My mother came and stayed for 7 weeks and Doug's mom came for a week. I am up and about now. Just started physical therapy and finally have pain relief. I feel like I am going to make it now!

Well, that is the basics. I will do better, I hope!!!

Snow Day Fun

We got a little snow. It was enough to cancel schools for icy roads. We have all had the fun stomach bug, so we were not planning on going today anyway. Isaac seems to be completely over it. I am a lot better. Elijah is eating today, but having lots of cramps. Doug has a mild case and is fine. Sarah as usual got it the worst and is still sick. Poor baby she really struggles with illnesses. Enjoy the pictures of Elijah and Doug.

Christmas Celebrations

We traveled as usual for Christmas this year. We did do a few combination of trips this year, so we were gone for one longer trip versus several smaller trips. We all had a great time. I think the kids ended up with Toys-R-Us!!! We have way too many toys. I definitely need to do a toy purge one day! Here are a few pictures of our celebrations!

He was so cute!!! I was so happy that he was able to wear the same outfit that Elijah wore for his first year pictures. I was afraid it would be too big. They are about the same weight, but Elijah was much taller. It worked with it being shorts.

He was not so sure about pictures. He is going through separation anxiety and it takes him a little to warm up. We did a few with Elijah for a frame that I am doing for Christmas that has one large spot(picture of all 3) and 2 smaller spots(1 of Elijah and Isaac and 1 of Sarah).

This morning we went to a pancake breakfast with Santa. Sarah ran right up to Santa. Isaac was a bit more hesitant and would not smile at him. They all sat on his lap and gave their wish list. We did not get a great group picture, but an ok one works with this group!

Happy Birthday baby boy! We love you so much. You have truly blessed our lives. You have grown so much in the last year. You are finally in 12 month clothing. You wear a 4 diaper. You no longer drink from a bottle you use a sippy cup! You feed yourself mostly and only want table food. You are saying several words and love to play Patty cake and peek-a-boo. You are trying to pull to stand. You still don't crawl, but you do get to where you want to go. Isaac we love you so much and are so happy you are our son.

We had a really fun party this year for Elijah's birthday. He wanted Angry Birds so we were on a mission to find stuff and fun things to do. We found a board game online that was Angry Birds so we ordered it for the cake. It has also been fun to play! Of course we had to have punch to match our cake so we had pig and bird party punch Then we need a game to play. Of course we designed a live version of Angry Birds complete with pigs and birds The kids had a blast playing the game and then we realized that Doug had on green so we figured he was a pig and attacked him. LOL. Of course Elijah had gifts too! Happy Birthday to my wonderful son. You are a true blessing from God. I am so thankful to be your mommy. You are now in 2nd grade and making all A's, but more importantly you are a leader and other kids like being around you. You include everyone and see others as equals. You are a great big brother to Sarah and Isaac and a great helper with them. You are gentle and kind and love to help them grow. You have a true servent's heart. I love you!!!!!!

Eating out for Mommy's Birthday

Everyone gets to pick where they want to go out to eat for their birthday. For my birthday we went to Olive Garden. We had a blast. Doug and I treated ourselves to a sleep number bed for our birthdays, Christmas, anniversary and any other gift giving time for the next few years!!!!! I LOVE my sleep number bed. It is wonderful. I wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day and with 3 kiddos and our crazy schedule I have to be up to par to make it. I love my life and thank God daily for my wonderful family.

Sarah loves to have Happy Birthday sang to her. She gets so excited.

She loves to get gifts but just a few at a time and she does not like all the package stuff, just the toy.

But sometimes, even when she picked the toy out at the store and she loved it there.......she DOES NOT love the toy out of the package. This is what happened this year. I was really bummed because I thought she would love it. She started screaming when she took it out of the bag. We put it back in the bag and she finally calmed down. We tried again at home, but she still did not like it. Tried a few nights later, still HATES the doll.

I think it is the hair. I normally try to make sure that dolls do not have real feeling hair, but this one does and I thought since she loved it in the store maybe she was over that sensory issue.....But NO she still does not like hair on dolls. Oh well, such is life with my beautiful princess and I would not trade it for anything. Love my baby girl!!!!!

Elijah and Sarah are home from school today with a tummy bug. They are definately better this morning than last night. Maybe it is just a 24 hour bug. Isaac seems ok. He had a large spit up yesterday morning that I am wondering now about. He also got choked last night really bad and not really sure why. He may be sick too. For today we are having a pj day with lots of cuddling!!!

Today you turn 5 years old. I was not there for your birth, but I already loved you in my heart. I was praying for you already and words can not express how heavy my heart was for you and how much I wanted to hold you in my arms. My heart was filled to overflowing when I learned of my beautiful princess. You have blessed me and taught me so much in your 5 years. You are a princess in every way. You have grown so much in the last year. You have jumped 2 clothing sizes. You are very independent and tell me all the time "I do it". Your speech has really taken off this year and I love having conversations with you. You can count to 15, know your colors, most shapes, most of your ABC's, and so much more. You are now potty trained. You have learned to use sissors and joined all the other preschoolers and have cut your hair. Thank goodness it was a very small spot! You no longer want to take a nap, but will still stay in your room for a rest time. You started out in Kindergarten this year at school, but your teacher did not give you a chance and school became a struggle. For the first time, you did not want to go to school and became hesitant to leave me. We then moved you to preschool and you are back to loving school. Now you get to ride the bus home from school(this was really hard for mommy, but you are the first one off and there are only 3 kids on the bus and we are only 4 miles from school!). Thursday was your first day to do this and you were very excited!!! I am looking forward to seeing how much you grown in the next year. You are my pretty, pretty princess!!!!! I love you very, very, very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9 month old

Sorry I am just now getting back to my 9 month post on Isaac. I hurt my back and the last few months have been rough. I have good and bad days and the last 2 days have been bad days. I will do a post later on all the details, but now back to my cutie pie!!! Don't you just love this picture!!! He is such a cutie and a joy. He is Mr. Personality. Isaac now weighs 17lbs and 4 oz. I really thought he was closer to 20lbs, but he has decided that he loves table food now and is giving me a fit about taking a bottle. He needs the formula, so we are in a battle of wills right now! He is 26.5 inches. We have really noticed a big length growth in the last few weeks. Isaac is now on all fours and rocking. He lunges forward and really tries to crawl. He did crawl a little on Wednesday, but has not repeated it yet. He is now feeding himself table food at meals and Mrs. Irene(speech) has him drinking from a straw cup!!!! He says mama, dada, baba, and makes tons of sounds. He has learn to squeal and uses it to get our attention. He loves his big brother and loves to pull sister's hair(just like a boy!). Elijah and Sarah love him. Sarah has been very helpful with him, so helpful that we caught her carrying him the other day! He was giggling and I was panicing. He is a true blessing from God!!

Physical Therapy

So far Isaac does not get physical therapy. Mrs. Karen evaluates him each month to make sure he is staying on target. He had a ball this month with Mrs. Karen. He is doing great. He is sitting very good and has a good strong base of support while sitting. He gets up on his hands and knees and rocks, but not really crawling. He has crawled backwards a few times and lunges forward at times. He is almost getting himself from a lying position to a sitting position. So for now, he is right on target. Sorry Mrs. Karen no physical therapy again this month, but feel free to snuggle anytime!!!!

Since Nana was here for Sarah's princess lunch we decided to have cupcakes and open gifts. Elijah and Isaac gace her their gift, along with Nana and Barbara's. I am going to give her our gift on her actual birthday!!!! The Fresh Beat Band is her favorite show so I did cupcakes and added cake toppers of the band members. She was so excited. Then on to the gifts!!!

Enchanted Princess

Today, the Melting Pot restaurant hosted an Enchanted Princess lunch. I decided to do this for Sarah's Birthday. She gets overstimulated at parties, so I thought this could be a girl's day. Mom and a friend, Barbara, came in from GA to join us. It was a great success. Sarah LOVED it. She loved all the princess'. Of course, my camera died after a few pictures, but here is what I got:

School Days

Today is the first day of school for my kids. Elijah was so excited to go back and see his friends. He is in the second grade this year. He loves school, praying he always loves school. I like his teacher. She seems really good. He was bummed that his best friend was not in his class.

Sarah started kindergarten. Man, it has been a tough morning for me. It is always hard to send a child the first day of kindergarten, but one with special needs even tougher. She seemed a bit uneasy about it. She really wanted to explore her classroom, but her teacher was all business and wanted them to stay seated. She was also way overstimulated after spending an hour in the gym until they called her class. Next year I will not take her in the gym. I go pick her up in a bit. This week she will do 3 half days. Dreading the off days because she will want to go I am sure!

Art Day at Church

Last week we had an art day for preschoolers and siblings at church. The kids hadva great time. We made chalk, a chalkboard/dry erase board, painted ceramics, made a mosaic picture, and used modeling clay. The kids had a blast!

Elijah made a wonderful elephant out of clay. It was really good. We were so careful and made it home with it in one piece. I never got a picture and last night he dropped it and it broke. I am so bummed I did take a picture. He was upset, but ok about it!

Elijah's Day

While Sarah was at camp, Elijah and I had a date. We ran to target first, where he found a toy he wanted. Lol, he can always find a toy he wants! Then we went to a ceramic place and painted some pottery. We get them back in a week. Of course, I had my camera, but forgot to get pictures! Then we went to Olive Garden for lunch. After lunch it was haircut time then off to get Sarah. We had a great day! Plan on taking Sarah for a day next week since she only goes to school 3 half days for kindergarten phase in.

Conversation with Sarah

Last week Elijah went to music camp. On Mon and Thurs, Sarah went to camp at the therapy center. On Tuesday, I knew she was going to have a fit when I dropped off Elijah and she didn't get to go, so I tried to prepare her:
Me: Sarah, Elijah has camp today, but you do not. We will go home and play ok. So no crying.
Sarah: ok

We get to the church and are pulling up to drop Elijah off.
Sarah: I no cry
Me: yes
Sarah: Elijah go, I no go
Me: yes, baby
Sarah: me cry now

Poor baby. I really wanted to cry after that. She actually did very good and only cried a few minutes.

Dancing Feet

After Sarah turned her ankle a few weeks ago it has been very unstable. She has turned it several times and fallen numerous times, so her PT had her fitted for ankle foot orthotics(AFO). We got her AFO's yesterday. They are cute with little butterflies on them.

They are really short so with frilly socks they will be totally covered. Unknown to us was that the company making her AFO's also provided us with tennis shoes to accommodate the AFO's! Totally free to us!

A certain unnamed little girl's OT will be very proud of the skills to accomplish this art work(open marker container, open marker, draw with enough strength to be seen and then hide the marker, ok the last one is not an OT skill technically), momma was not so proud.

Thankfully it was a dry erase marker and came out fairly easily. Got to Sarah proof Elijah's room now that she can open doors,yep that is an OT skill too!

Seven months old

Isaac was 7 months old on Thursday, 6/30. I kept thinking about it all week so I could get a picture on his actual 7th month date, but of course I forgot on Thursday! Here he is on Wednesday during his home therapy:

Isaac is now about 17-18 pounds, 27 inches long. He is wearing 9-12 month clothing and size 2 shoe. He wears a size 3 diaper, but I will be buying size 4 this week! He is by far my easiest baby. He rarely cries. Isaac means laughter and he is living up to his name. He laughs all the time! He rolls everywhere and loves to be in the center of the action. He is a hair puller. He sits unsupported for up to 5 minutes. Mostly, he is just too busy to sit still. He wants to crawl so bad and I know very soon he will be. I really need to baby proof the playroom! He is drooling and chewing on everything so a tooth should be coming in soon. He makes the m,b,d sounds in addition to cooing. He loves his brother and sister and wants to be with them. Isaac is a joy and I am so glad he is my son!

Fourth of July Kids

I am almost up to date on my blogging. I hope that I can stay caught up and do some more in depth blogging. Adjusting to 3 kids has been hard, but well worth the efforts. My kids bring me so much joy. I am so blessed to be a mommy.

We went to Pop-Pop and Karen's for the fourth. Their neighborhood had a firework show that Friday. Here is Elijah with the military helicopter:

Sarah did not like the fireworks. She finally cried herself to sleep with me covering her ears. Isaac never acted like he heard them and then fell asleep. I think we will be getting a more in depth hearing test in the very near future!

Drive In Movie Night

We love going to the drive in to see movies. It is so much easier than the theater. We generally take a picnic and play games until the movie starts. The kids love it. This was Isaac's first movie.

We turned the dining room into Isaac's room for now. Plan to add on upstairs at some point. I picked out an animal and transportation theme so it hopefully will last a few years!

On Monday, Isaac was 6 months old.

You now weigh over 16 lbs and are about 25 inches long. You wear size 6 months and some 9 month clothing. You wear a 3 diaper and some 2 shoes. You have started eating food. You love to eat, but do not like baby food from a jar. You are rolling and get up on your knees and push your self forward. You are a hair grabber and have made Sarah cry a few times(mommy wants to cry when you get her hair too). You are a happy easy going baby. I love you very much my chunky monkey!

Field Day

Elijah's field day at school was last week. Field day here is so different than when I was a kid.

We had certain events that we competed in. Elijah's is more of a fun day outside. I do not care for his field day.
Glad it was a good day with a great breeze. We only stayed until lunch and then went out to eat. I really tried to convince him to play hooky all day, but he is so much like me at that age, had to follow the rules. Can't have an unexcused absence for field day!

5 months old

Today Isaac is 5 months old. He weighs about 14 lbs. He is very chunky! He is wearing 6-9 month clothing. A size 3 diaper and a 4 overnight diaper. He is finally in a size 1 shoes. He has tiny feet. He now drinks 8 oz every 5-6 hours and sleeps 10+ hours at night. He rolls and rolls and rolls. He does not think he should be lying down. He wants to sit up or better yet stand. Silly boy. He loves his jumperoo, even though his feet don't touch. He put a pillow under his feet for now. He loves to jabber and give slobbery kisses. He ate cereal for the first time yesterday and LOVED it! More on that in another post. He loves his brother and lights up when he hears his voice, but Sarah is who he loves to kiss the most. He also loves to grab her hair and make her squeal. He will just giggle.

Planting Trees

On Saturday we also planted a tree for each of the kids. Lowes was giving out free trees for Earth day. Elijah is so excited about his tree. He named it spike. Silly boy.

A friend gave us a box of clothing the other day for Isaac. We are set for the summer, fall and winter!!!! I love infant little jeans. I just think they are so cute. We are moving Isaac into his room this weekend. We are converting the dining room into his room until we do the upstairs addition, probably in a couple of years. We hardly use the dining room and this will give the kids their own rooms.

Children's Day at Church

Sunday was Children's Day at our church. Elijah got to sing with the children's choir for the first time. He was so excited. Then they brought all the children in so we can see what an impact we have on the future. Here is each of my kids in the sanctuary.
