Tree Pictures

Grandma has taken a picture of all the grandkids at about 1.5-2 years of age in a tree in her yard.  The original tree died, but we picked a new tree and continued the tradition.  While we were at her house this last time, it was Isaac’s turn to get his picture taken.  I did not plan this, but I had him in the same outfit that I had Elijah in!  Here are a few different angles of Isaac:

Isaac is actually the oldest of the 3 in his picture, but the smallest!  Elijah was 17 months, Sarah was 15 months and Isaac is 19 months.  The tree has also grown so that adds to the illusion that Isaac is much smaller!

Baseball Awards

A little late in posting, but last week Elijah had closing ceremonies for baseball.  It was VERY hot, but we made it through his division and then headed for the air condition.  So glad they finished their games before the heat wave.  He really enjoyed baseball and made tremendous strides this year.  I was very proud of him.  He was given the coach’s award and got a team trophy.  His team also came in fourth overall. 

My Posse

Our town has a Stars, Stripes, and Squirt guns parade for the fourth of July each year.  The kids love it and have a blast trying to squirt the float riders, who are also armed with squirt guns.  Sarah did not make it to the end due to overheating, so Isaac, Sarah and I finished out the parade in the air conditioned van.  I think it is time to look into a cooling vest for Sarah.  She misses so much of the fun.  There was a music video that used an ally off from town to film a western scene.  I was able to get a few pictures of my posse.  I think on a cooler day we need to go back and get some cool pictures.

Fires

Thankfully we do not live where there are wildfires. This year it is so hot and dry it does not take much to set off a fire and for it to get big fast.  Unfortunately a few boys down the road learned that lesson the hard way this week.  They were playing with bottle rockets without permission and set the field in front of their house on fire.  Thankfully they did get it out with only a 4-5 acre area burned.  It was very close to being very bad.

50's things to do this summer

We have a list of fun activities we are going to do this summer.  This morning we had a pillow fight.  Now on to building an indoor fort!

TGBC preschoolers creek stomping

Yesterday our friends from our church before we moved to the country came for a day of fun. We were going to do creek stomping, but the creek was dry.  Had fun playing in the backyard. The temps were cooler so it was the perfect day.

Fun at the Library

Signed the kids up for the summer reading program. Throughout the summer they will have special guest come to encourage reading. Today was Ronald McDonald. 

Summer Fun!

Summer has finally arrived.  This year I was soooooo ready for school to end.  It has really been a struggle this year.  We spent the morning in our new pool.  It is a great size. Sarah can touch the bottom so she enjoys it more.  We just got it this weekend and assembled it on Sun, so the water is still very cold!  Elijah has been in it all day.  The rest of us only lasted an hour.  He swam yesterday as it was filling up too.  Hope you have a fun filled summer.

Walking

Isaac is so close to walking.  He has taken a few steps on his own, but not really walking.  Mrs Karyn sent home a walker today for us to use to help get him walking.  He is so cute walking with it!

Children's Hospital

Sometimes we go forever without a visit to the hospital, then we seem to visit often.  Last week we visited twice.  Sarah had her required 3 ear infections for her tubes to be replaced.  So we went in for a quick ear tube placement surgery.  She did great.  Her speech had really been affected by her infections.  She had fluid in her ears at surgery.  She is now fluid free and talking much better.  We go back at the end of the month for a full hearing evaluation.  Isaac decided that weekend that he has never seen the ER, so it was his turn.  He started screaming and we could not soothe him.  Since he has a possible hernia and is generally a happy easy baby the pediatrician sent us to the ER.  No bulging of the hernia area.  No strep.  All test were normal.  We are not real sure what was wrong.  We have been gluten free for Sarah and we think he got some gluten when we ate out the night before and had horrible stomach cramps.  He is fine now.  Praying we all stay well from here on out. 

Attack of the tree

Friday night after finishing supper, my mother said Elijah had ran into a tree.  Now the only tree on the side of the yard she was looking at was my tulip tree.

So I imagined that he had just ran into the leaves or something.  Really did not take it seriously until I heard him scream and Doug and Mom jump up and run out the door.  Needless to say when I looked I saw something like this (this is a re-enactment.  I did not stop to grab the camera!).

He was actually in the tree further.  I could see head and arms on one side and feet on the other and he was not touching the ground at all.  He was screaming really loud and all I could imagine was him being impaled by a tree limb.  I nearly knocked my mom down trying to get to him.  He was fine.  A bruised toe, several scrapes and bruises.  The tree was fine too.  This mommy though aged a few years in those few minutes.

Lowe's Creative Ideas

For the last year or so I have been getting the Lowe's magazine.  They have some really great ideas, but honestly way over my head.  I am not real good at following directions and tend to cut corners.  Not good for the crafty things!  LOL. This month had an outdoor car play area and Elijah was very intrigued with it, so using what we had we made our version.  All we had to buy was the pea gravel, we picked that over the mulch.  We added a waterfall.  We have a pond, tunnel, parking pad, sand pit and the road.  Looking forward to many hour of fun.

Think I might try the outdoor chalkboard for Sarah next....stay tuned.

Baby Boy

I was getting ready for our yard sale and little boy was helping!  I love this boy so much!  I have the best family.

Just Like A Rock Star!!!

Today I took Sarah to see her favorite band, The Fresh Beat Band, in concert.  She LOVES this group.  She knows all their songs and can sing the main parts to all of them.  She did not understand prior to seeing them what we were doing.  When we got to the venue she saw a poster and ran up to it so excited.  She immediately started dancing and singing.  Our seats were right up front to one side, but good seats.  Sarah was in shock when they came on stage.  She did not move for an entire song.  Finally she got up and danced and sang right along with them.She was very upset when it was over. But wait there was more, mommy got the backstage party passes!!!!!She loved playing with all the musical stuff.But the best part was meeting the band.  She gave all of them a big hug.What a priceless memory.  I am so excited we had this opportunity.
