Week in Review

We have had a great week at school. Sarah is doing wonderful. She is starting to learn the routine. She loves the playground and riding toys they play on at recess. I really like her teacher. She is so good with all of the kids, but especially Sarah(she has worked with kids with Down syndrome in the past!). I asked her on Wed how Sarah was doing and she just went on and on about how good Sarah is doing and how good her motor skills are(thanks Karen and Holly!!!). She also commented on her talking more each day and how she could understand most of what she was saying(thanks Irene!!!!). All she gave me was positive info. I did not realize until later how big this really was for me. I am so use to being told what she can't do and it was refreshing to hear what she can do. Sarah is also using the potty and is staying dry all day on a timed schedule. She may have 1 accident a day, if any!!!!!! Sarah is sharing a little too well, or her friends are sharing well. We are home today with a fever and strep throat. I took her to the doctor yesterday for a rash that we have decided is allergic and when they took her temp it was 102. The rash is unrelated, it is just on her face. Praying we caught the strep early and we will not have a repeat of our last strep fun!!! Well, got to go cuddle with my angel!!

Children's Day at Church

Today was children's day at church. During the service all of the kids went on a parade into the sanctuary. It was fun...well, sort of! Sarah for some reason has decided to have that 3 yr old separation anxiety. She was very clingy and ended up staying with me to walk into church. I was also carrying a baby and this totally upset her. She kept trying to get closer and move the baby away from me. Don't think she likes to share her mommy. During the second hour Doug carried her and I held the other kids in our class' hands. She did better. After church, we had a cookout and they had inflatables for the kids. Sarah totally freaked out in the toddler inflatable. She has always loved these, not anymore. She was also overstimulated with the wind blowing. She just got overwhelmed. She ended up falling asleep after crying so hard and slept the rest of the time we were there. Elijah had a blast on the inflatables. The big slide was his favorite. This was really a great day. Sarah got a devotional book and what I have read so far, this is the best devotional we have had. I can not wait to start tonight using it. Elijah got a notebook for the Pastor Pal's notes they are starting. He liked filling in the blanks. I must admit it was a bit distracting to me to help him fill in the blanks, but he will learn how to do it and I think it will be a great teaching tool for him on listening and taking notes. I am so excited to see my kids grow in God and His plans for them. I am grateful for a church that loves it's kids and families. Thank you TGBC for all you do for us!!!!

Starting school/job tomorrow!

Sarah and I start our new adventure in the morning. I am so excited for Sarah. She is going to have a blast. They had an open house today, so after church we went by. Doug and Elijah liked the school also. Doug wants to see about Elijah going next year. We are going to pray about it and see what we can work out after I see how it works day to day. I have all of our clothes laid out and ironed for next week. Going to pack lunches after supper tonight. On Mon, Tues and Fri, Sarah will go to therapy after school. Elijah and Sarah will both get to attend summer camp there this summer. The schedule looks fun. I think both kids will have a great time. I will post pictures tomorrow night!!! Pray that all goes well.

Lemonade Stand

Elijah wanted to set up a lemonade stand for the yard sale on Saturday. He sold lemonade and cookies. Sarah talked him into eating into some of the profits. They had a blast. He was so cute trying to sell his lemonade. I am so thankful to the people who bought lemonade and cookies. You could definately tell who had kids or grandkids!! Everyone was so sweet.

Hiho, hiho it's off to work I go....

Today out of the blue, I got a call from the school that was really expensive, but the best fit for Sarah. They offered to let me work for Sarah's tuition. Now, that is a God blessing. This was not something we even discussed. Wow!!! Doug and I talked and I am going to work M-f 8:30-12:30 and Sarah will attend the half day program!!!!!! I am sooooooo excited. This is a great opportunity for Sarah. They are wanting me to work over the summer half days, but both kids will be able to attend the summer camp program. I think this will be wonderful for the kids. They also agreed that I can have off the days in the summer that I already have planned. They follow the same school schedule as Elijah's school. This is definately a win-win situation!!!! Praising the Lord for this blessing. I am so excited to see how much Sarah is going to grow!!!!

Being Normal

What can I say, but this has been a fairly normal week for my crew. No major happenings. The most drama we have had this week is me spraining my hand. I know a bit odd, but you know we never do things normal around here!!! I actually sprained the ligaments in my first 2 fingers. Swollen and bruised, but doing fine. Elijah is doing great in school and soccer. He scored a goal in today's game and is loving it. He had a lemonade stand today at the town's mile long yard sale, that is much longer than a mile. He sold bunches of toys. He is wanting a Nitendo DS and I refuse to buy him one. He had to earn the money. Today he did that. He is sooooooo excited. Sarah is being the princess as always. She is doing go with the homeschooling. She is really smart. She is now telling me that she needs to go potty if she has to poop. One morning, she actually went to the potty and almost got her pants down and on the potty to pee. She needed very little help. I was very proud of her. She is talking more and much more independent these days. Doug is tackling all the yard projects and staying busy. I am not getting as much done right now, but soon I am sure.

Spring has sprung

and so has our allergies. Elijah and I are coughing and sniffling. Doug and Sarah are fine. So glad Sarah has her tubes!!! We have had a busy week, just going here and there, nothing special.

We did talk to the neck specialist about Sarah's x-ray. We are in a holding pattern. They will do the x-rays again next year closer to her 5th birthday. Sometimes the ligaments will tighten as they age and the vertebra will correct itself. Pray hard this happens. For now no contact sports(we can handle that one!), no weird neck positions, and no tumbling. He basically said at this age, just no tumbling. She should not be big enough or strong enough to apply the pressure and force to her neck to do damage. Again, praying no major accidents!

Adoption wise, we are still waiting. We know our profile has been shown a few times, but not God's timing. For now we continue to pray and wait.

That is about all that is going on for now in our lives. Hope everyone is having a great week.

Week in Review

Sorry, I have been a bad blogger again. This has been a busy week. Monday Doug's mom and niece came for a visit. I was suppose to meet them downtown, but the van would not start. I was stuck at Walmart, so Doug came to my rescue fast(I think he was afraid to leave me in Walmart too long!). Had to get a rental car since we did not get our van back until late Tues. I think we are now in the market for a second vehicle. Doug has a work truck, so we have not needed an additional vehicle, but with the kids starting activities we are both going to need a vehicle to go in different directions. Tues, I took Doug's mom and niece site-seeing. We had a great time. Wed, I had a playdate at the house. Thurs, therapy for Sarah, helped in Elijah's class and his Easter egg hunt, then we went to the Maundy Thursday service at church. Elijah had his first Lord's Supper. They did it family style, so we were able to explain it to him more so he could understand it better. It was very special. Friday, Sarah went to the ENT and passed her hearing test for the first time! I was excited. Then I mowed 5.5 of our 6.5 acres and Doug tilled the garden area and did other yard stuff. We colored our eggs and hid them for the kids. Today we went to an Easter egg hunt and then shoe shopping. Sarah got sick at the shoe store. Praying it was just from overheating. Tomorrow we will go to church and then out to eat. What a special time of year to observe Easter and knowing that our Saviour died on a cross for us, but He rose again on the third day. PRAISE THE LORD!
