Snow Day again!!!

Elijah was so happy to awake to snow this am. Sarah was not as happy. She started about 10:30 last night with a tummy bug. Finally about 2am she stopped vomiting and went to sleep. This morning when I went in to get her she had spit up some during the night, but not much. I went in several times during the night, but did not notice the spit up, so maybe that is what woke her. She seems tired and drained today, but has held down some juice. We will stick to the liquids today just to be sure.

Elijah had to go out and play first thing this morning. He made a snowman and a snowdog. He enjoyed playing in the snow and cried when I made him come in to warm up. Hope everyone is enjoying their day

Pictures for Elizabeth!!

Elizabeth, here are some new pictures for you. The first one is Grandma holding Sarah(don't tell Elijah, but she has the doll that she gave him when we brought her home!! He does not like to share this doll-named Sarah Bonnie. It is his special doll. He is afraid she will slobber on it!). The second picture is Elijah and Daddy in their matching housecoats. Your mother gave Elijah the housecoat the last time we were there. It is almost identical to Doug's. They are so cute in their housecoats!

The last picture is of the remodel. This is the start of the bathroom downstairs.

Have a great week!

Oatmeal facial

Sarah decided that today would be a good day for spa treatments. Everytime I gave her a bite of oatmeal she decided to smear it on her face. She and I were covered in oatmeal by the time breakfast was over. Everyone had to have a bath after breakfast was over. Our skin was soft and smooth after the oatmeal treatments.

The men are still here working on our remodel. I am not sure how far behind we are now, but I am sure we are behind!!! Oh well, the finished product will be worth it.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Sleep Study Report

Well, we went back to the ENT today to get Sarah's sleep study report. She does have sleep apnea. They said her oxygen levels dropped into the 80's during her REM sleep. They treat sleep apnea in infants by removing their tonsils and adnoids. Sarah also had fluid on her ears again and failed her hearing test. I am not sure the hearing test was accurate. They had me hold her and then one lady sat in front of us and another was at the booth and would talk to Sarah through a speaker and Sarah was to turn towards the speaker on the left or right based on where she heard it from. First Sarah was sleepy and just rubbed her eyes, second the lady sitting in front of us was someone new. Sarah is very social and just wanted to talk to this lady. She was not paying attention to anything else. She did not understand the test. Doug said they had elmo on a computer screen above each speaker. I knew what Sarah was suppose to do and I never saw elmo, so I did not do so well either!! Sarah is scheduled for surgery to have a T&A and tubes in her ears on May 15th. They said we would be in the hospital 2-7 days(due to the sleep apnea and Down syndrome). Please keep us in your prayers. Please keep me in your prayers also, I know I will not sleep as soundly at night until I know the apnea is better, I will be listening and making sure my angel is breathing good.

Bob the Builder

Well, we finally decided to add a bathroom downstairs. I wanted to do this from the beginning, but Doug wanted to wait. Well, the washer began to leak and we were going to have to tear out the ceiling in the playroom to get to the pipes to repair it, so Doug agreed that we should do the update!!!!! We are moving the washer & dryer downstairs. Opening up the area that held the w/d and putting a tub in the master bath(YIPPEE). We are adding a full bath downstairs in the same area as the w/d. It will take most of the "hallway" area that we had before. They will change the way the stairs come down and create a hall into the playroom and other two rooms downstairs. They said it would take 2 weeks and they were to start yesterday. Well, they came yesterday and dropped off supplies, but I did not see any work occur. So in my guess we are on day 2 of the remodel and are a day behind. I will take pictures when there is a change to show everyone!!!!

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sarah went from a lying position to sitting position for the first time yesterday!!! We have been working on this for months. I started shouting and scared her, but she soon realized that I was praising her and she started clapping. She has not done it since, but she will soon. She generally does something a time or two and then will go days or weeks before she does it again. Sarah has also started getting on her hands and knees all the time now and is scooting backwards on them, so crawling is just around the corner! She has been working on cruising furniture at therapy and has started taking a few steps holding on the couch. I guess I need to do some more baby proofing!! Never thought I would be happy about baby proofing!! She generally has spurts where she does several new things and then will have periods of time where she does nothing new, so guess the spurt has started, WOO HOO!!!!! I love seeing her progress and show all the doctors that she can succeed. She is such a smart girl!!!

Valentine's Day Party

Elijah had his Valentine Party today at school. They had a great time. They had yummy goodies to eat, ballons to play with, a craft to make, and then they exchanged Valentine's. Sarah really enjoyed the ballons and the yummy goodies!! Both kids had a great time. They both rested good when we got home. After supper we went to kindermusik and had fun singing and dancing. Sarah showed off her clapping. She also really followed the teacher. She was talking about high and low and was moving her shakers up and down with the music. Sarah started doing it also. It was so great to see her get a concept sooooooooooo fast. She has been up on her hands and knees most of the morning trying to crawl, I think we are in another growth spurt!!!!

It's snowing, It's snowing!!!

Elijah was so excited to awake to snow coming down this morning. He has been wanting snow all winter. He and Nana had fun playing in the snow. They made snow angels, snowman, and a snowball fight. Sarah has a cold so we did not take her out in the snow. She watched from the window. The snow is gone now, but we all enjoyed it while we could. Nana and Angie were not able to leave today since it snowed, so Elijah is glad to have them another day!!

Patty Cake, Patty Cake

Thursday Sarah clapped for the first time. Since then she has really started clapping. Angie has been working with her to do Patty Cake and for the first time today she did it. Not only did she get the clapping and other motions she was "singing". It is sooooooooo cute. She would clap, clap, clap, roll her hands and open her hands wide like she was throwing it in a pan. I could watch her do this all day. Ms. Erin her OT will be so excited. We have been working on clapping for months!!

To sleep, or not to sleep

Well, the hand surgery is over. The wrist has been released(carpal tunnel) and de"cyst"iziced. The doctor said the carpal tunnel was really tight. The ganglion cyst had lots of tenticals that he had to get. The surgery ended up being about and hour. I stayed awake through the whole thing. They did a block on my arm so I did not feel anything. It was funny listening to the doctor and staff talk about Ipods and downloads when you hand is being cut on. Yesterday went fine. The 6-8 hour blocked lasted 18 hours so it was late into the night before I had full feeling back. My pain meds took away the pain, but left me wide awake!! I could not sleep. It was awful. I also was itching and it felt like ants were crawling on me. I think I will stick to aleve today. The kids are doing great and are getting spoiled fast. Sarah has to be held and Elijah must have Nana's full attention. In fact, he took Angie's sleeping place last night so he could sleep with Nana. Angie had to sleep on the couch. I will get pictures of the kids and Nana and Angie to post.

Moo Cow/Chicken Lay/Chick-fil-a

Last night was kids night at Chick-fil-a. Elijah has finally learned to pronounce it!!! It was sooo cute when he called it Chicken Lay! He is growing up so fast. They gave all of the kids rocket popsicles. Elijah loved it. Wonder how I will get the red out of his shirt! Oh, just realized he had on his red school shirt. Woo Hoo guess I do not have to worry about getting the red out of it!!! Sarah loves to eat Chick-fil-a. She eats all four nuggets and a few fries in the kids meal. Elijah might eat 3 of the nuggets and no fries, although last night he ate all four, some fries, rocket popsicle, and half of an ice cream cone. The pictures are of all 3 kids on the slide. It was Sarah's first time to go down the slide. She had a blast.

The storms were bad last night, but all around us and not on us. We are safe with no damage. The electricity never even went off. We went to the basement around 10p and then again at 2am. Elijah slept through it all and Sarah just giggled. She is such a light sleeper that you can not move her without waking her. She is in a whinny mood, so I think she will get an extra nap soon. Have a great day!

Ready or not Here I come!!

Sarah is really getting around these days. She is getting up on her hands and knees and sometimes scooting like a frog. She just giggles. She is also learning to sit up from a laying position and gets real excited when she accomplishes this. She moves lightening fast, straight for Elijah's toys!! She squeals as he screams when she gets to his toys. Definately having a sharing issue. The pictures are of Sarah crawling through their tunnel. She loves the tunnel, but will not go all the way through. Her cold is a little better. Her gums are swollen and she is chewing on everything. Guess we are teething also. Elijah is doing great he is counting the days until Nana and Angie come to visit. They will be here Thursday for my hand surgery on Friday. Did my pre-op today. The electricity decided to go out so the visit was extra long. I am soooooo glad I was off the elevator when the power went out. I do not think it would have been a pretty site. I do not like to be trapped in a small place. I definately considered the stairs as I was leaving. The seven flights down seemed like a bigger risk. I think I need to get in shape and lose some weight. Hope everyone has a great week!!!

Colds

Oh were oh were are the cold medicines?????? Sarah has had a runny nose for 3 weeks now. If only the FDA would give me back my cold medicine for her. I understand that the reason for the taking of meds were because parents were over medicating, but I am a responsible adult and my child needs something for this snotty nose. I do not believe they do not help, they always helped Elijah. They may not make the cold go away, but they help the symptoms. Sarah is so conjested that she can not get the snot out. I would pay for some infant pediacare cold medicine!!!!! Wonder how much children's medication I could give? No, I won't give her any, but I am sure that the parents that were over medicating would. It is so frustrating.
